Red Zone Going to Fandemonium

Red Zone Going to Fandemonium

August 7th-9th, the first full weekend in August will bring Fandemonium once again to Idaho, ground zero will be Nampa Civic Center and the three day even will be loaded with events, activities and guests.  Anyone familiar with the Red Zone and its sister sites know that we’re dedicated to fantasy, sci-fi and gaming in all forms so we’re putting our money where our mouth is, you’ll find Kasandra and I at our table in artist’s alley interviewing everyone we can get to slow down long enough to talk to us.

Apparently Idaho isn’t the first place people think of when they think of Cons, more fool them!  Fandemonium ’09 is the 6th consecutive annual convention and if you check out their site you’ll see that they haven’t skimped on the details when it comes to set-up.

Just looking at the site I know I’ll go nuts trying to figure out where to go first.  I like talking to fellow writers, I have no artistic talent but I love to look at their stuff, I’m an unabashed fan of the Dead Gentlemen, so I’m doomed to run around in the moments I can get away from the table to geek out in my own behalf.

Here’s the current line-up of artists, writers, media and movie makers in the Artist Alley (click the link for descriptions):

Autum Shaw, Kinetic Karma, Matthew McMillan, Ken McConnell, Welcome & Open Divinations, Kikai The Anime Inspired Art Group, Let there be Ludicrousy, Condor Art, New Boise Order, COT Screen Printing, Bear Claw Studios, Cyborge, Under CONstruction Comics (This is Red Zone’s own Staff Artist, KiraD), Steve Willhite, MoNAC, RedZoneGaming.net, Order of the Fallen: Light Saber FX, Farwest Materials, The S1nd1cate, Jan Scott-Frazier, Dead Gentlemen Productions (If you haven’t heard of Dead Gentlemen Productions, or at least the Gamers, or Gamers II, Dorkness Rising, then I fear for your gamer’s sanity!  This is must see stuff!), Syan, Tetsumiro & Studio Robb

And here’s the current line-up of businesses in the Dealer’s Booths (click the link for descriptions):

Dealer’s Booths: Outpost 12, Something Wicked, Fantasy Figures and Misc, 34th Fighting Collectibles, Dragons Unlimited, ABU Games, The Costume Shop, Pampered Chef, Pandimensional Designs, Glenn’s Comics, Kat’s Creations, & Hero’s

I am looking forward to this, we’re working on a few ideas for activities we can do at the Red Zone table, we should have power, and we’re hoping for internet and it it does we’ll be registering people live, but if not we’ll still be reporting and tweeting via cell phone.  While we’re proud that the Red Zone has entertained visitors from 30 states and 24 countries to date, we’re proud to be from Idaho!

About the Author

Tim Boothby is a gamer of the old school, starting back to when the D&D books were mostly faded mimeograph pages that smelled funny and stained your fingers when you held them and the standard dice exploded when you threw them at the wall. Since then he’s played more than 30 Role Playing Games and designed a few himself. He combined his love of gaming with his appreciation of the internet and journalistic skills to build a small network of gaming-related sites: The Fantasy Artists, Role-Players and Writer’s Guild, Scribe of the Realm and co-founded Red Zone Gaming.
